As we near the end of one decade and prepare to start the next, I’d like to wish all OneLife’s partners, clients and employees a very happy holiday season!


It’s been an exciting past year for us at OneLife marked by our entry into the APICIL Group and a strong focus on our business operations to ensure that we continue to meet the evolving needs of our partners and their clients across Europe.


2019 – a new base to build opportunity

In 2019, OneLife was acquired by Groupe APICIL, number 4 social protection player in France.  This development provides huge potential for our company to draw on the strength and resources of a leading financial group to further build out our growth strategy and be a true local wealth solutions expert in each of the 9 markets in which we operate.

APICIL Life, the Luxembourg life assurance arm of the Group, will integrate OneLife in December 2019. This merger, in addition to Groupe APICIL’s firm position in the French market, together bring deep knowledge and expertise to OneLife’s own commitment to its partners and clients in the territory and serves to enhance our offering in France.  


Commitment to Belgium

OneLife remained committed to its Belgian broker network in 2019 introducing a number of new product and service initiatives. The OneLife Investment Forum held in October focused on the future of wealth management with over 40 fund houses represented. On the agenda, presenting the benefits of Luxembourg life assurance as a highly effective wealth structuring tool and the increasing demand for Socially Responsible Investing (SRI).


Closer to our other European markets

In addition to Belgium, OneLife strengthened its position with partners in the other markets in which it operates.  With specialised tax, legal and regulatory expertise, we provided local support to each of our European markets.  We developed new relationships with partners in the Nordic region, built on established relationships in Iberia and France and connected with key European IFA partners who accompany globally mobile clients in their cross-border lives.


Making Life simpler!

Our approach across our markets is to keep things simple and centred on the client.  We know that it’s only by responding to clients’ intrinsic needs in a world of change and staying close to our partners that our business remains relevant and of value to those we serve. 


So in 2019, we completed the upgrade of our client administration platform to bring more efficiency to the way we operate. We implemented a series of digital innovations such as the final elements of our electronic signature, dematerialisation of documents on our secure online platform, youroffice-yourassets, and B2B data exchange to facilitate the way our partners and clients do business with us.


And we took a look at our client documentation and launched an initiative to make it shorter, easier and faster to complete. Our aim is to provide a great customer experience at OneLife so that the fundamentals of our relationship are based on values of simplicity and collaboration, leaving more time to focus on the essentials that really matter to our clients such as their financial planning, investment and succession needs.


Flexibility of our solutions

Our product range is a constant focus of attention. In 2019, we started a number of new OneLife working groups to reflect on developments for 2020 and to aid the delivery of new market opportunities in response to the challenges faced by our clients in the management of their wealth. The Specialised Insurance Fund (SIF Advisory) is an example, giving the client the freedom to implement their own unique investment strategy.    


2020 – a year of possibilities

In the new year, OneLife will continue to build on its vision as a leading cross-border wealth solutions player with a local approach. We will focus on the delivery of new product solutions for certain markets, develop our digital tools to make it easier to invest in underlying external and dedicated funds and provide marketing tools to further help our partners explain the important role of Luxembourg life assurance in the management of their clients’ wealth.
