“Grasping the numerous opportunities of digital technology”

For some months, Nasir Zubairi has been the CEO of LHoFT (Luxembourg House of Financial Technology). A world-renowned specialist of financial technologies, Nasir is also among the Top 100 experts of the Blockchain. “We all have a smart phone in our pockets and we are constantly connected. Even so, fewer than 1% of financial transactions are effected via the smart phone. And yet, our lives are clearly adapted to technologies, whether mobile, computer or the Internet of things,” observed Nasir Zubairi. He considers that the world of finance fails to make sufficient use of these technologies. “The financial services are ‘facilitators’, they allow people to purchase, which is the ultimate goal,” stated Nasir Zubairi. He, too, advocates a change of mentality, with a special focus on problems, rather than a directly solution-oriented approach. “This means that all staff become potential suppliers of solutions.

And in addition, it develops their commitment to this company,” he added. Concerning the services provided by insurance companies, Nasir Zubairi addressed the issue of the potential value added from health data, feedback, etc.: “We should generate a climate of positive emotion, in which people subscribe out of genuine inclination, rather than only because they feel compelled to do so”. For Nasir Zubairi, “the opportunities beggar belief; we must be among those who think differently and find solutions to problems. The OneLife environment allows this to happen. So go forward and seize those opportunities”.

Several thousand MOOCs for people to develop their skills

It is with this in mind that, under the impulse of Christophe Regnault, OneLife’s HR department, represented by Nicolas Palau, HR Business Partner, in cooperation with Julien Joly, of LinkedIn Europe (LinkedIn Learning/Lynda.com), used the Digital Days as the venue for presenting his new MOOC training offer (the initials stand for “Massive Open Online Course”) open to all the life-assurance company’s employees, starting in September. “Business practices are evolving, and we must take on the changes bodily. MOOCs afford great flexibility in learning and provide an approach complementing our existing training offers,” remarked the HR specialist, concluding with the words: “Be keen, be inquisitive, take the reins of your own development”.

Thus, the OneLife staff had their first taste of a live demonstration of the possibilities afforded by LinkedIn Europe (LinkedIn Learning / Lynda.com), described by Julien Joly as the “Netflix of training”.
